Strasbourg, Week 1

Nobody was in a very good mood the day we got into Strasbourg. It was Sunday and everything was closed. On top of that--we were tired, grumpy, and the hotel they had reserved was sub-par. Thanks to our friends, we knew about this in advance and booked apartments for our entire stay.

We were in town for our 2 week Separation of Powers class with Justice Scalia. We spent the first few days of the week reading 100+ pages a night (yaaaawn) which is why these are mostly pictures of food (well, that and because many of you have told me that you've been especially enjoying all of the "gourmet setting" photos).

Shrimp salad from a random restaurant. We learned never to ask for a to-go box in France at this place.

So we ate a McDonalds...and discovered that they have amazing curry sauce for the nuggets...they really need to bring this to the states!

Flammecküche with apples

Flammecküche Forestière (thin bread with a really thin layer of cream sauce, bacon, cheese, onions, and mushrooms).

We asked him for his best dessert and he brought out this entire tray.

Eerily reminiscent of the "ham jello" from the ECJ, but much better!

We discovered Monoprix which is like a target with a grocery store. They had the full Twilight spread.

We picked up all kinds of stuff.

This one's for you, Sydney.

Page made us a delicious spaghetti dinner! A homecooked meal for the first time in over a month!

We have to take the tram to the University for class every morning. This is more proof that we are actually in school.

We decided to try the Chinese restaurant across the street from Jen B and Amy's hotel.

It was decorated really nicely for how reasonable the prices were.

It wasn't that great, but what more can you expect from a Chinese restaurant in France?

The canal...we never made it on the canal boat ride :(.

After studying hard Sunday-Wednesday, we decided it was time for a break.

This is our first Strasbourg apartment. Small, but cute!

Jess C convinced us to play horse race. It was a bad idea.

We love our new friends!

Class the morning after sucked. We didn't have much time to recover because we had train tickets to Paris booked for that afternoon. Here's the Strasbourg train station.

So tired...I slept for the entire ride.

We really didn't find much to do in Strasbourg during the first week, but the second week was def more eventful. Pics from that coming soon!

xx
